The Scarab Cabinet is an upright version of the Scarab Chest with a single front vertical door instead of a hinged lid.

 

Like its predecessor, it is a steel framework inset with heat treated hammered copper panels.   Solid Purple Heart hardwood  is used for the top and bottom, and the two shelves within.

 

The bronze dome at the top of the door swings to the side to reveal a keyway, and a scarab is inscribed on the front vertical member and built up with bronze.

 

The steel frame is treated with an even dark patina and the claw feet are treated with a bronze patina letting the reflective properties of the metal shine through.
