ANDROMEDA 9

The Andromeda 9 is my first 3D printed rocket car.  An ambitious car for my first, but after fabricating cars out of extruded aluminum shapes, I was excited to try something more sculptural and my first with 4 wheels instead of the usual 3.  Not having to worry about weight, as larger rockets were now available, I also wanted to make it steerable so that it did not have to wreck at the end of a run.  So, now that it was going to be remote controlled, it would have to carry a battery, receiver and a servo.  At this point I decided why not add a second servo to deploy drag chutes to slow it at the end of a run.  Also, why not have it carry a forward and reverse facing camera to record onboard images.  With 4x 120mm scooter wheels at the corners, the components were layed out and an aerodynamic shape was stretched over it.  It looks very much like the bluebird land speed record breaking car from the 1960's.  This was not

completely by chance, as that car is in my opinon, one of the most beautiful land speed record breaking cars to ever run.
