AndroD
Back to basics. The Andro 9 was big, heavy, and complex, but that's ok if you have the power to move it. The rocket re-loads however, are harder to come by, and I have to mail order to get them. The Estes size D rocket is still the most powerful rocket that most local hobby stores carry. These were the classic rockets that we ran in most of the cars in the history section. I wanted to go back and design a light and simple 3D printed car that would be a good match for the D. This car is also going back to the Spirit of America (Germania) school of design. The classic 3 wheeled cab forward rocket. This car weighs in at 384g w/o the rocket charge or ballast. There is a compartment just behind the front wheel that can be filled with steel shot which can stabalize the car if the front end wants to leave the ground. This was very successful in the final run of the Spirit of Germania. The car has 20 discreet 3D printed parts including pilot, and 40 pieces of hardware including magnets, screws, nuts, washers, and bearings.
